White Sunday fever grips Samoa
Children across Samoa are bringing life and colour to their White Sunday preparations with families from all denominations looking forward to the celebration on Sunday. At the Vaitele-fou Congregational Christian Church of Samoa, Tauta’ia Faleto’ese says White Sunday is a time for parents andcommunities to celebrate their children. For the past few weeks, Ms. Faleto’ese has been taking her grandchildren to rehearsals so they can perfect their skits, memory verses and performances. For her, seeing the joy on the faces of the young ones brings her a lot of satisfaction.“I grew up in the CCCS, the first Church to hold White Sunday here in Samoa. And when I was young, the pastors taught to us in the A’oga Faife’au that everyone must wear white in church as it’s a very important colour because its relates to the missionary concept of white for purity and cleanliness.”
