Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Due to hazardous ocean conditions and the High Surf Warning, the Aunuʻu/Auasi Wharf has remained closed since June 10, and all local alias operators were advised to remove their vessels from the water for safety.

In response to requests from Aunuʻu residents for food and drinking water, the Office of the Governor, in coordination with the Department of Search & Rescue (DSAR) Marine Patrol Division, Department of Health, ASPA, and Department of Public Safety, organized the delivery of essential supplies to the island while the wharf remains closed. Two supply trips have already been completed, with a third supply trip soon to be on its way.

The supplies being transported to Aunuʻu include cases of chicken, boxes of bowl saimin, bags of rice, and cases of bottled water to help residents meet basic needs during the disruption in transportation access.

This coordinated effort is being carried out by personnel from the Office of the Governor, alongside DSAR Marine Patrol personnel, Department of Public Safety Commander Lima Togia and officers from the Fagaitua Substation, ASPA crew members, as well as a team from the Department of Health. Together, they are working to ensure the safe transport and delivery of supplies under challenging ocean conditions.

This initiative reflects the continued commitment of Governor Pulaaliʻi Nikolao Pula and Lieutenant Governor Pulumataʻala Ae Ae Jr. to ensure that assistance and essential services reach all communities throughout American Samoa, especially during times of emergency.
