YOUTH FOR MISSIONS CONFERENCE IN TERRITORY: CHALLENGE FOR MISSIONARY WORK

More than 60 missionaries from the Pacific, Asia and other places such as India, Brazil and other countries of the world, arrived this past Wednesday evening on the Lady Naomi, for the ‘Youth for MIssions’ Conference that is scheduled to take place from June 7-14.

Youth for Missions of American Samoa is encouraging the youth of the territory to attend this conference so they can be challenged for missionary work and to hear from Samoan Missionaries that are leading the way and are working in many different parts of the world.

“These are missionaries from the Pacific that are overseas, cross culturally and from all of Asia and we are talking about places like India, Bangladesh, Thailand,” said the Coordinator of Church Planning in Thailand, Peniamina Jones.

“All of them have come to American Samoa to recruit and also just celebrate with the whole island. This is not just one denomination. We are looking at uniting the whole island,” he said.

“…the first two days [of the conference] are at the Tafuna High School Gymnasium at 7:00 p.m. We want all of the churches to come together and listen to the stories from across the seas, of what God is doing in the mission fields. This is one of the first times this has ever happened and we are trying to rekindle the missionary spirit the Samoans had one hundred years ago,” Jones said.
