In response to increased demand for travel during the summer between Pago Pago and Honolulu, Hawaiian Airlines will be adding a third weekly flight to and from American Samoa.

The flight will operate on Wednesdays, beginning June 18 and run for four weeks until July 16, utilizing the carrier’s 264-seat Boeing 767-300 aircraft. The extra flight will arrive and depart Pago Pago during the evening hours, which same flight times for the airline’s current Monday and Friday flights.

Meanwhile, Hawaiian, the major corporate sponsor of the Samoa News Territorial Spelling Bee announced Monday that it carried 829,584 passengers in March this year, a decrease of 3.1% from March of last year that recorded 855,746 passengers throughout its system.

For the first three months of 2014 (January to March), the airline carried 2.40 million passengers, a 0.3% increase compared to the same period last year.
