McDonald’s American Samoa, in celebration of its 15th anniversary, is once again offering scholarship opportunities for local college bound students who plan to either attend college off island or take classes at the American Samoa Community College.

Since 2006, McDonald’s American Samoa has provided scholarship funding for students in the territory.

Dolores Tautolo-Galea’i, chairperson of the McDonald’s American Samoa Scholarship Board, told Samoa News yesterday that scholarship recipients are chosen by the Board membership which includes herself, McDonald’s representative Evelyn Gebauer, retired DOE employee Donna Gurr, and Dr. Emelia Le’i, ASCC’s Dean of Student Services.

“It is the Board that decides and votes who should get the scholarships,” Tautolo-Galea’i said.

One $15,000 scholarship award for a qualified ASCC graduate planning to pursue a degree program at an accredited US college or university is up for grabs while four $2,000 scholarship awards are available for qualified high school graduates planning to attend the ASCC.

Applications are now available at the McDonald’s Head Office in Nuuuli between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. The deadline to apply is Friday, April 24 at 4 p.m.
