Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — “Get a job.” This was the simple message Acting Associate Judge Elvis P. Patea gave to Mayne Siaumau when he appeared in High Court yesterday morning for his Order To Show Cause (OSC) hearing, along with a preliminary examination (PX) for failure to comply with conditions of his probation in High Court.

According to the government, Siaumau failed to comply with 2 conditions of his 5-year probation. Not only has he failed to remain law abiding, after being convicted by the District Court few weeks ago for disturbing the public peace, but he has also failed to secure gainful employment.

Court records show that Siaumau is on probation for both High Court and District Court. During his hearing yesterday, Siaumau admits to the violation of his probation. He told the court that he’s still trying his best to look for a job as ordered by the court.

After hearing Siaumau’s admission, Patea continued the court disposition for Siaumau’s case for another 3 months, to allow him to seek gainful employment.

“The court is giving you 3 months to get a job. Our message for you Siaumau is very simple, get a job or you will face consequences for your action,” Patea told Siaumau.

Siaumau is on probation in the High Court for 5 years for assault convictions, while he’s on probation in District Court for 3 years for disturbing the public peace (PPD).
