Washington, DC  — Congresswoman Aumua Amata, and her fellow House Republican Colleagues were in the Capitol building early Thursday morning to receive a transition briefing from Vice President–Elect Pence.

The VP-Elect was very gracious and humble in his message to House Republicans, and assured them that their input would be highly valued and crucial to the success of the incoming administration.

The VP-Elect also commented on several key initiatives that would change the status quo and turn this victory into real progress for the American people, including the rolling back of many executive orders that have been issued in the last eight years.

“I am excited to get back to the grindstone, and see what we can accomplish in the upcoming Congress,” stated Amata.  “The plan put forth by both the House GOP (A Better Way) and the incoming administration will put the United States and U.S. territories back on the path to prosperity and growth,” continued the Congresswoman.

At the start of this year, House Republicans set out to create a bold, specific agenda by listening to people in every corner of America.  A Better Way addresses some of the biggest challenges facing the country, from restoring the people’s voice in our government, to repealing and replacing harmful portions of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), to implementing pro-growth tax reform.

“From Supreme Court appointments who will uphold the Constitution, to tax reform, and on to the rebuilding of our military, the incoming administration has set forth a bold and inspiring plan to take the nation into the future with a vision of prosperity and opportunity for all Americans,” said Amata. 

“I look forward to working closely with the new administration to make sure that American Samoa is given the same resources and opportunities as our counterparts in the states, and I truly believe that the new administration will be a great friend to the territories, and I expect great things to happen in the next few years,” concluded Amata.
