American Samoa takes top spot in NZ travel industry magazine

American Samoa is the lead feature article in the May/June issue of Islandtime magazine, a New Zealand travel industry publication, according to the American Samoa Visitors Bureau’s May edition of its e-Newsletter.

The six-page article, including a front cover image of Aunu’u Island and Spinner Dolphins was commissioned by the American Samoa Visitors Bureau to educate and raise the profile of American Samoa to New Zealand’s travel industry.

ASVB executive director David Vaeafe said as part of the bureau’s ongoing destination awareness program in “our international visitor markets,” and feature articles provide a valuable resource tool for travel agents and wholesalers.

“With a few New Zealand travel wholesalers now packaging American Samoa holidays, commissioning articles in key media outlets will continue to put our destination upfront as a holiday option for our travel partners to sell,” he said.

The article looks at the National Park and National Marine Sanctuary of American Samoa as well as covering such things as shopping, Flag Day and the rising of the Palolo, later in the year.

A full copy of the feature article “American Samoa, The Destination that’s starting to make waves” can be found on media page of the ASVB website – www.americansamoa.travel.

Islandtime is the only dedicated travel trade magazine available in New Zealand that focuses on the South Pacific Islands. The commissioning of the article was made possible by granting funding from the US Department of Interior, Office of Insular Affairs.
