Despite the wind and heavy rainfall Saturday morning, the 2015 Flag Day Cricket league opened up with a prayer and remarks by Western District Governor and Acting director of Samoan Affairs Lualemaga Faoa.  The colorful uniforms of more than 10 men's teams and two women's teams were seen on the field having braved the elements to attend the opening.

The league games which will see 20+ mens teams and 7 women's teams competing against each other will be held daily between 2 fields.

The eastern district men's teams will be playing at the Fagaalu Park Field, while the western district teams will be competing daily at the Vaitogi Malae.

The Women's league slated to start towards the end of February will be held at the Faga'alu Malae.

This past Saturdays games saw the eastern district teams going at it with the Pago Eagles (58 - 8 outs)  defeating the team from Gataivai (57), and the Fagaitua (118 - 19 outs)  vs Alao (22 - 9 outs) game postponed to another day due to heavy rains.

From the western district, the Vaitogi Pisisami #1 (21 - 8 outs) defeated the Pavaia'i Tama Samoa Moni #2 (20 - 19 outs) while the Tama o le Lega from Poloa (76 - 17 outs)  narrowly defeated the Tama Samoa Moni #1 (75 - 19 outs).
