Smiles all around as curtains fall on 2013 Teuila Festival
Every good thing must come to an end. And so it was when the 2013 Teuila Festival ended in high spirits with a prize giving held in front of the Government building.Dropping the fautasi long boat races may have been controversial but more than a few people feel the new look Teuila Festival had some winning elements.Although the fautasi regatta was cut from this year’s celebration there were a lot of new ideas and entertainment on display. There was the Colleges Dream Show, Chiefs Fiafia lead by Tauasa Sielu Avea, Alo Paopao outrigger canoeing, a barista competition and traditional games. Many spectators felt this year’s Teuila has been a revival of an event that seemed to have faded away in recent years. “I wasn’t happy when I heard that the fautasi was cancelled this year,” said Taumaeu Solomona.“Without the fautasi on as with every other Teuila there was really nothing else to look forward to but watching the shows in the past few nights it was actually better than the past years.“I enjoyed the different shows from all ages and different entertainments.”
