Lemanu authorizes the use of the American Samoa flag during Pulelei'ite's funeral
Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Acting Governor Lemanu Palepoi Sialega Peleti Mauga, through a memo, has authorized the use of the American Samoa flag during funeral services for former faipule and Chief Executive Officer of the American Samoa Telecommunications Authority (ASTCA), Pulelei'ite Tufele Li’amatua Jr.
Final funeral services are scheduled to be held today and tomorrow.
The Department of Public Safety is to carry out all appropriate honors and ceremony, as authorized by territorial protocol.
Lemanu orders — in the same memo — that all flags in American Samoa be lowered to half-staff beginning at sunrise today, June 1 and continuing until sunset tomorrow, June 2 in remembrance of Pulelei'ite’s years of public service and dedication to the territory.
Lemanu asks that the people of American Samoa join him in honoring Pulelei'ite.
“His service to his family, church, government, and people of American Samoa will long be remembered,” said Lemanu. “His commitment and leadership shall stand as legacy for us all to follow.”
This past Tuesday, government officials, territorial leaders, and dozens of family and friends including representatives from the private sector, attended Pulelei'ite's family service.
Today, at 11a.m. is a church service at the Laulii CCCAS; and tomorrow, the final service is set for 11a.m. followed by the burial at 1p.m. at his home in Aumi, Laulii.
Pulelei'ite is survived by his mother, Tofiga Aulava Tufele; his wife Sinaitaaga Gaoteote Tufele; and his three children: Tofiga, Faalele, and Li'a Jr.
