Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Police took into custody on Monday night two men, following a fight in the Tafuna area amongst several young people who were engaged in a drinking session at one of the defendant's homes.

The accused, Laina Wilson and Alfred Nonu, made their initial appearances this past Tuesday in District Court.

Wilson is charged with two counts of third degree assault and one count of public peace disturbance, all misdemeanors. Nonu is charged with third-degree assault and public peace disturbance.

According to court filings, Wilson was hosting a party at his Tafuna home for his mother’s birthday, which was attended by several friends and relatives, including co-defendant, Nonu.

A verbal argument between Wilson and Nonu resulted in a fist fight between the two men. Wilson allegedly punched Nonu in the face. Nonu responded by allegedly pushing Wilson to the ground and kicking him in the back. Wilson is also alleged to have assaulted another man who tried to stop the fight.
