Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Gov. Lemanu Peleti Mauga revealed during his cabinet meeting last week that there are still a few executive branch directors whose paperwork for contract employment is not fully completed.

While a majority of the directors have firmed up their contract-paper work, the governor says there are still a few left to be completed. For example, the final review of paperwork including background checks by the local Homeland Security Department.

He said this paperwork needs to be completed and turned in before the end of this year, so that everything is in place.

Lemanu, on behalf of himself and  Lt. Gov. Talauega Eleasalo Ale, also expressed sincere thanks and appreciation to all cabinet members for their hard work during the 11-months since the Administration took office.

He said that a lot of project work has been completed in the past 11 months and also a lot of projects continue. And here has been a lot of direct communication between the government with the private sector as well as the community.

According to the governor, the administration continues to work closely with businesses in efforts for further improvement to the private sector going forward. For example, working closely with StarKist Samoa and other major businesses.

Lemanu thanked Talauega and the COVID-19 Task Force for its ongoing work, in the midst of opposition from others in the community but he said the goal that remains a priority to the government is to protect the territory from the pandemic.
