Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Johnny Visesio is scheduled to appear in court Jan. 29, 2020 for sentencing. He is convicted of stealing and second degree burglary.

Visesio, 31, was initially charged in two separate cases. In the first case, he was charged with one count of stealing and one count of first degree burglary - both felonies. In the second case, he was charged with one count of stealing and one count of second degree burglary.

But under a signed plea agreement with the government, accepted by the court yesterday morning, Visesio pled guilty to count one of stealing in the first case, and second degree burglary in the second case. The remaining charges were dismissed.

With his guilty plea, Visesio - an overstayer - admits that on the night of May 21, 2018 in Faleniu, he broke into a home for the purpose of committing a crime. While inside the house, he stole a laptop; 2 iPhones; a 32-inch T.V.; and $241 cash without the owner’s permission.

Visesio further admits that on the night of May. 27th in Pava’ia’i, he broke into the home of Alex Ifopo by removing louvers at the back of the house to gain entry. While inside, he tried to carry a big cooler full of food but the homeowner woke up and caught him. He then jumped out of the house through a window and left empty handed.

As part of the plea agreement between the two parties, the government recommends a probated sentence with the condition that the defendant depart the territory due to his illegal immigration status.
