Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — What will happen to students, including local ones, who were set to graduate this year from Argosy University Hawaii's local campus? Will WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC) accredit their degrees? Does Samoa News also have information on how to obtain transcripts for former Argosy students who have not graduated yet? Samoa News has not done updates on these two issues recently.

Samoa News replies:

Argosy campuses throughout the country including American Samoa were officially closed in mid March this year and WSCUC says that on Mar. 17th, it withdrew accreditation from Argosy University.

However, WSCUC says Argosy's accreditation continued through May 12, 2019 for the exclusive purposes of:

•     Issuing degrees to students who are in their final term — provided Argosy faculty certifies those students as completing their degree requirements, and;

•     providing students with access to academic transcripts and services to facilitate transfer to or completion at other institutions.

In a notice posted on its website (www.wscuc), WSCUC notes that its top priority is to support students through this transition by sharing resources and information related to transcripts and student records, transfer credits, federal financial aid, and other matters.

WSCUC strongly recommends that former Argosy students check its website for any new updates.

Argosy has also posted information on its website: www.argosy.edu on “closed school information,” saying all students who graduated from campuses while the university was under federal court receivership (through Argosy’s owner, Dream Center Education Holdings and that the receivership ended on May 31) after January 18, 2019 will receive their diplomas via mail around June 17, 2019.

Argosy's website provides a link for students to order their transcripts. Argosy suggests that students use the information and the link to order transcripts, as using multi-agencies, will not expedite the process.

For students who received federal financial aid, the US Department of Education provides a link: https://studentaid.ed.gov/sa/ under the column announcement, on information about Argosy University and The Arts Institutes - which is also an institution owned by Dream Center Education Holdings. USDOE strongly recommends that former Argosy students go through the details published on this link for more information.

As previously reported by Samoa News, the University of Hawaii- Manoa Campus has reached out to former local Argosy students who want to continue with their degree programs. WSCUC’s website also provides a link to the list of accredited colleges and universities that welcome inquiries from Argosy students.

Among them are Chaminade University and Hawaii Pacific University,
