Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — The Health Department’s Environmental Health and Sanitation Division has started enforcement of the required valid health cards for road-side vendors. Samoa News observed on Wednesday agents from the DoH division issuing a citation to a family operating a road-side stand in Nu’uuli.

In a May 22nd notice to “All Food Vendors by the Road Side or Markets — Including KS Mart, Fagatogo Market Place and Litani (in Nu’uuli)”, DoH announced that “ALL temporary food vendors need to have valid health cards on them during function” hours.

And when applying for a permit, they are required to pay the fee at the Treasury Department Revenue Office at A.P. Lutali Executive Office Building in Utulei. Thereafter venders must apply for a temporary food permit at the DoH in Fagaalu, in order to operate a stand at the above locations.

“Failure to do so will lead to citation(s) being issued to individual(s) responsible or future permits will be denied,” according to the notice posted on DoH Facebook page.
