Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — The E-Rate Office, which comes under the purview of the local Education Department (ASDOE), will be relocated to the lower campus site of Tafuna High School, while the Department of Public Works is working on a blueprint for the new location.

Gov. Lolo Matalasi Moliga publicly announced during previous cabinet meeting his intention to move forward with the relocation of the E-Rate Office from a building in Utulei — next to the ECE Center — to government property in Tafuna. He says the building currently housing the E-Rate Office is not safe and is always affected during storms.

Asked for additional information on the new location of the E-Rate Office and other plans, ASDOE deputy director Philo Jennings said, “All we were told was that the relocation would be at the Tafuna lower campus site. Whereabouts exactly we aren't sure.”

“We do know the building that housed our Music, Art, and Samoan Studies was taken down hence speculation that the building might be relocated at that area since there was a "manhole" within the vicinity” he said, adding that DPW and American Samoa TeleCommunications Authority personnel were briefed on the project.

“DPW was to come up with the drawings. Our E-Rate was supposed to come up with the layout of the floor plan. That's all we were briefed on,” Jennings explained.
