Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — The Department of Port Administration (DPA) announces that the Pago Pago International Airport is currently undertaking construction work on the Airport Apron. This is part of the airport where the aircraft parks, and passengers disembark or board.

The Apron Project is to upgrade the airport, with new concrete pavement, flood lights, drainage and fueling services. McConnell Dowel is the contractor for the work, and PPG Consultants is the Construction Management team. This project is part of the DPAs larger vision to upgrade the airport, to ensure modern but most importantly, safer facilities for the territory.

DPA is asking the traveling public for their patience, and to please be aware of the construction work and to stay out of any construction areas.

CHANGES DUE TO APRON WORK

Due to the project construction — starting Thursday, Mar. 28, 2019 and effective through to Sept. 2019 — the Hawaiian Air aircraft will be parking on Stand C. (far east side of the Apron, or the far-right side if you are in the terminal facing the apron area). This will result in the walk from the terminal building to the aircraft, and back, being slightly longer than what is normal.

DPA acknowledges the inconvenience this may cause the traveling public and  humbly requests the public’s patience, during the construction. People’s safety is DPA’s paramount priority, and this change will ensure safe boarding and deplaning operations during construction.

In addition, due to this change, Hawaiian Air Check In times, and TSA screening times have been revised to ensure there are no delays to the flights:

•    Hawaiian Air Check-In Times:  Open: 1.00pm, Closes: 10:00pm

•    TSA Screening Times:  Open: 8:30pm, Closes: 10:10pm. TSA Screening will close promptly at 10:10pm, with no exceptions.

•    Immigration Early Clearance Times — For early immigration clearance, Immigration will be open: Open: 1:00pm to 4:00pm  This will allow you to avoid the Immigration line and proceed directly to TSA Screening, later in the evening.

Again, we would like to stress the importance in keeping to the designated areas, and staying out of the construction sites, for your own safety.

DPA and Hawaiian Air thank everyone for their patience and cooperation during these next few months.
