American Samoa governor says hospital meth case progressing
The American Samoa Governor has given assurances that everything is being done to solve the case of crystal methamphetamine being found in the LBJ Hospital mail more than a week ago.
Lolo Moliga said the discovery illustrated how serious the drug problem was in the territory and he has moved to assure residents that the government was exploring all avenues to resolve the case.
The governor said he can not divulge too much information as the appropriate agencies were working on the case but has hasn't ruled out federal involvement.
KHJ News understands that the House Health Committee plans to call in the LBJ Hosptial CEO and Supply manager for a hearing about the incident.
There were packages found containing what is known as ice, addressed to various divisions of the hospital and also the department of health and the Communuity health center in Amouli.
According to the LBJ CEO a package that was addressed to the Nursing division was returned because an order had not been placed and then the drugs were discovered.
Seven packages were found in total.
