UH Army ROTC holds Commissioning Ceremony — including 4 from Am Samoa

Amata with newly commissioned ROTC officers

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Four newly minted soldiers from American Samoa were commissioned during the University of Hawaii Army ROTC Commissioning Ceremony recently in Honolulu.

Congresswoman Uifa’atali Amata congratulated them in a press release saying, “American Samoa has established a strong tradition of military families and patriotic service, but it’s still quite a sight to see four of our own commissioned as officers at the same time!”

They are: Daryleen Moi-Tuimaseve of Faleniu, Teuila Alailima-Utu of Fagatogo and Amouli, Mosese Lomu of Fagatogo, and Faafouina Tsai of Futiga.

“Congratulations to each of these four dedicated young leaders. To get to this moment, they worked hard and studied through four years of college and completed ROTC training, and I appreciate all their character and motivation. They’ve made their families, high schools, villages, churches, and all of us, very proud!

“Thank you to all their families, mentors and teachers along the way, as I know only a few could be there in person, but it was a joyful sight. I know many in American Samoa will be enjoying these and other photos from the ceremony, following their careers as commissioned officers in our U.S. military, and supporting them with prayers.”
