Bluesky is major sponsor of ASRU Flag Day 7s tourney

American Samoa Rugby Union chairman Togiola Tulafono on thursday accepted a $15,000 donation from Lewis Wolman, the country manager for Bluesky Communications, the only major sponsor for the Blueksy Flag Day 7s rugby tournament which opened yesteerday at Veterans Memorial Stadium for two days.

During the news conference where the donation was made, Wolman said its partnership with ASRBU is aligned with Bluesky’s long standing commitment to Youth Empowerment.

“We are happy to be part of this great event promoting the development of youth as well as the fellowship between the two Samoas, acknowledging the six clubs participating from neighboring Samoa,” he said.

Togiola thanked Blueksy on behalf of ASRU, adding that Blueksy is the only business in the private sector so far that has stepped in with such major financial support.

A total of 12 teams will play in the tournament - six teams each from American Samoa and Samoa. Togiola said the top prize is $12,000.

Among the teams from Samoa is Vaiala BBE, the defending champs of the last three Flag Day 7s tournaments. At yesterday's opening ceremony, Lt. Gov. Lemanu Peleti Mauga spoke on behalf of the governor.
