Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Two important changes have been announced from the Office of the Governor, American Samoa Medicaid Agency. Updates over the next few days on check-in time, etc. will be released as the information comes available.

FIRST

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the medical charter tentatively scheduled for Friday, October 23 has now been moved to Monday, Oct. 26.

The AS Department of Health and Hawaiian Airlines (HAL) require additional time to test and process COVID-testing for the pilots and flight crews in light of the new contracting policies for HAL.

In addition, conflicts with the cargo flight and testing in Hawai’i for the crew over the weekend prevents the scheduling of a weekend flight.

The Monday, Oct 26 flight is as follows:

HA1331: HNL-PPG — Departs Honolulu at 8 a.m, arriving Pago Pago (PPG) at 12:40 p.m.

HA 920: PPG-HNL — Departs Pago at 2:40 p.m, arriving Honolulu at 9:00 p.m.

SECOND

The American Samoa Medicaid Office is not accepting any more people on the passenger list (patient or non-patient) as the current list exceeds available seats on the flight.

Other updates have noted that COVID-19 testing for patients by DoH began on Tuesday, October 20, at the Tafuna DOH ACF building.

Also, if a patient or escort is not approved for Medicaid referral, the traveler may still request to be put on the non-medical passenger list at the Attorney General’s office. If a patient misses the Monday deadline for the patient referral list, you may still be able to get on the AG’s list for the flight.

The cost share for this charter flight is $920 PPG to HNL only.
