Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Monday, March 9th, another record high for American Samoa with the temperature souring to 92 degrees. This comes on the heels of Sundays record of 92.

Above average temperatures are forecast through at least Wednesday.

Remember to stay hydrated American Samoa.

Models have been consistent in showing a ridge to the north, building and migrating across the Samoa Islands through midweek. Current satellite imageries show convections to the northwest of Savai`i migrating southeastward. This will likely produce scattered to numerous showers, briefly as the trough will continue to remain south of the area.

Models suggest that the ridge will build and remain over the islands through the rest of the forecast period, keeping warm and high temperatures over the islands.
The trough will remain south of the area as passing showers embedded within the easterly flow passes through Wednesday night through at least Thursday night. A broader and stronger high pressure system to the south will migrate eastward as it continues to hold the ridge in place and the trough to the south, over the weekend and into the new week.

This scenario will have the likelihood of warmer temperatures and light winds across the area for the long term forecast.

Therefore, expect scattered to numerous showers becoming isolated Monday through the midweek. An increased chance of showers Wednesday night through Thursday night then back to isolated showers Friday through the new week. Winds will remain light and variable throughout the forecast package.

Nevertheless, there are currently no tropical developments in the
area of responsibility (AOR) for the next 7 days.
