Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — A man was arrested Friday night, April 28, 2023 after the Leone Police Substation (LPS) received a report at 11:25pm from a woman claiming her brother-in-law, Kona Visesio, had physically assaulted her.

Officers responded to the call and met up with the woman who briefed them on the matter. According to the victim, she came home from a softball game and Visesio, together with some of their family members were drinking in front of their house.

While they were drinking, a friend of the victim, who is a male, came by their residence to pick up a case of beer that was in the victim’s car.

She then walked over to her friend’s car to give him the case of beer, and out of nowhere, Visesio appeared near the man’s car and punched the window and shouted profanities at him.

The victim states that she tried to explain to Visesio who her friend was, but he refused to listen, and that’s when Visesio started cussing at the victim and told her to “go back to the house.”

That is when the victim proceeded to tell him that “he has no right cussing at her” and Visesio walked back to her and punched her in the mouth with a closed fist and kicked her head while she was on the ground.

She then contacted the LPS for assistance.

After the victim briefed the responding officers on the matter, she directed the officers to where Visesio could be found and they apprehended him.

Visesio was then transported to the LPS where he was booked and confined at the Tafuna Correctional Facility to await the next available sitting of District Court.

The defendant is charged with 1 count of private peace disturbance, punishable by imprisonment for up to fifteen days, a fine of $300, or both and 1 count of assault in the third-degree, punishable by imprisonment of one year, a fine of $1,000 or both.

He posted $300 bail.
