Man allegedly involved in multiple burglary cases strikes again
Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Edward Jr Eary is held on bail of $3,000 for one charge of stealing and trespassing.
The incident is alleged to have occurred last December when a family contacted the Leone Police Substation for assistance.
The complaining family informed the officers that when they were about to conduct yard work they found out their weed eater and leaf blower were missing. It was further disclosed the stolen items were roughly estimated at around $600.
The Criminal Investigation Division conducted an investigation and met again with victims in this matter and the family told police they suspected it was the defendant after a witness came forward that Eary was seen at the victim’s residence.
Police met with the defendant’s aunt who said that Eary also stole a weed eater and blower from their house and had never returned to their house after that.
According to the police criminal complaint, an abstract from the records office in Fagatogo pertaining to Eary indicates that he has been involved in multiple burglary cases from 2017 to 2020.
WOMAN FACES PPD CHARGES FOR ATTACKING SISTER
Esther Tufuga, 23, made her initial appearance in the District Court on public peace disturbance and private peace disturbance.
According to the criminal complaint police received a call from a family in Ottoville regarding a family dispute on March 7, 2023.
The criminal complaint states that the defendant’s mother told police that her two daughters were arguing verbally and that she did not mind it until they were too loud to the point the neighbors were alerted.
She attempted to stop them from arguing with each other but then the defendant grabbed a machete and told her sister to kneel down to her.
The defendant was allegedly yelling at her mother “saying nobody ever protects her and that she is tired of protecting herself … [all] while pointing the machete to her face and attempting to hit her.”
When police arrived the defendant took off on foot. “Responding officers swept the area as to where the suspect was last seen running and she was observed in front of the church in the back of their house with the machete.
“She was apprehended and placed in Police Unit 63 to be transported to the Tafuna Substation for further investigation. Upon arrival at the Tafuna Substation she was advised of her constitutional rights in which she refused to make a statement and answer questions. She was later booked and confined at the Territorial [sic] Correctional Facility until the next sitting of the district court.
IOSEFA SU’A ARRAIGNED IN THE HIGH COURT
A man facing drug possession charge was arraigned in the High Court yesterday.
Iosefa Su’a was arrested after police received a tip regarding a drug operation. Su’a is held on bail of $10,000 and is facing two criminal counts, of unlawful possession of controlled substance of marijuana with intent to distribute and unlawful possession of controlled substance of marijuana.
According to the government’s case Detectives of the Vice and Narcotics Unit received a call from a Confidential Informant (CI) last Friday citing the defendant was going to meet with a buyer and would be delivering liquid marijuana and marijuana pill capsules on Friday night.
“At approximately 10:25pm Vice and Narcotics received another [sic] information from the C.I. that Su’a has [sic] parked in front of Nu'uuli/ Avau store by the sea and is meeting with a buyer.”
It’s alleged the police responded and observed the defendant’s vehicle pulled over next to another vehicle and he entered through the passenger side door.
“Vice and Narcotics Detectives were given the order to intercept the drug operation.” Su’a was apprehended from the vehicle.
“It was revealed during the apprehension, Su’a had in his possession a clear package with three syringes containing a brownish liquid color substance and white pill bottle containing four white capsules inside.”
Su’a and the driver of the other vehicle were both apprehended and transported to the Fagatogo Police Station for further investigation. The pills and the brownish liquid were tested using the Duquenois Levine Field Test kit and the results came back positive for THC/ marijuana.
Police also searched the vehicle that Su’a was found in and discovered four small white round containers containing a brownish substance and a baggie containing what appeared to be dried mushrooms.
The defendant’s girlfriend was also taken in, and was asked about the contents of the small white containers. She said they belonged to the defendant as it was his medication from Hawaii.
“She was also asked what was inside the clear Ziplog bag and she stated that it was `shrooms'. She further stated that she had no knowledge that the items were inside the car and knew nothing about it [sic].”
There was no explanation in the police report for the first mention of Su’a in a Black Venue vehicle and the second in a Black Palisade vehicle.
