Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — The government has charged Anesi a.k.a. Valu Aukusitino with one count each of trespassing and public peace disturbance, both misdemeanors, for his alleged involvement in an incident that occurred on the west side earlier this week.

During Tuesday’s court proceedings, a defense motion to release Aukusitino on his own recognizance was denied by the court, which upheld bail at $500.

No confirmation yesterday if the defendant has been able to post bail.

Court information states that police responded to a call at a family gathering in Vaitogi this past Monday night, where the defendant allegedly caused trouble and was yelling profanities.

The defendant’s father, who was at the gathering, tried to take his son home but the defendant continued shouting profanities.

Aukusitino returned to the gathering, calling out for a fight; and this time, he was holding a machete. Male family members, who were present, chased the defendant home, where police later apprehended him.

According to police, Aukusitino allegedly admitted that he had been drinking, and he “reeked of alcohol.”

If he posts bond, Aukusitino is ordered not to set foot at his neighbor's house, where the gathering was held.

He is also ordered not to make any direct or indirect contact with the government's witnesses.
