Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — The Health Department has launched a survey to find out the public’s “attitudes toward COVID-19 vaccine”. For the person who answers, “no”, to the question as to whether you have taken one dose or none, the survey asks — “which best describes why you would not take a vaccine for COVID-19?”

Options to choose from for a reply: I am worried about the side effects; I am worried that the research on vaccines is rushed; I am against vaccines in general; I don’t think it will protect me from COVID-19; There is no COVID-19 on island; Why should I get vaccinated?

An option “other” is also provided, in which the person can provide an explanation.

DoH says the purpose of the survey is to provide better service to the public on this issue. A link to the survey, is on the DoH Facebook Page.

The survey comes at a time when the COVID-19 Task Force has launched a new drive to get 90% of the eligible population vaccinated for the coronavirus.

DoH and Samoan Affairs Office are taking vaccinations to the villages starting on Saturday and DoH is also starting vaccinations of children ages 12 to 15 at the well baby clinics in Fagaalu, Tafuna, and Leone. (See separate reports for details.)
