Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — American Samoa Hawaii Cable company (“ASH”) announces the successful activation of new international submarine cable bandwidth on the TUI SAMOA cable for all its customers.

Since reaching full capacity a few years ago, ASH has now been able to relieve the demands from its contracted customers for additional capacity by leasing submarine cable bandwidth on the Samoa Submarine Cable Company (“SSCC”).

The new bandwidth now presents an alternative route for operators to the current ASH Cable that links American Samoa direct to Hawai’i.

CEO of SSCC Emmanuel Delanoue revealed, “This lease signed with ASH in late March was our first from Samoa to California and became SSCC’s largest capacity contract signed to date.”

President of ASH Cable, Toleafoa Douglas Creevey added, “The new bandwidth was technically provisioned a few weeks ago on the new TUI SAMOA Cable, which connects optically directly onto the SOUTHERN CROSS Cable through to USA, terminating at the CORESITE Data Centre in San Jose, California.

Following successful testing and trials, all ASH Customers have access to it now. However, the option to use ASH cable for direct connection to Hawai’i is available for customers who desire that route.”

“Furthermore, our SAS Cable that links American Samoa and Samoa has recently been upgraded with new terminal equipment capable of increasing capacity well over 100 times, to cater for foreseeable future growth of data traffic between the two countries from further submarine cables yet to launch, complementing the role of ASH to provide enhanced services for both American Samoa and Samoa.”

SSCC CEO Delanoue added, "We are pleased to welcome ASH and its customers and thank ASH for its trust. This agreement encompasses all the work done at SSCC board and management level to encourage us to integrate customer needs with the benefits of the TUI SAMOA cable in order to develop tailor-made solutions. Such collaboration demonstrates the importance to work together to enhance the connectivity of the infrastructures available in both countries.”
