Washington, D.C. — Congresswoman Uifa’atali Amata is thanking teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week as well as sending appreciation to American Samoa’s nurses on National Nurses Day, Friday, May 6.

TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK

“Thank you to all of our teachers, as you invest your time and energy into our young people. We know these are challenging times, but that you are persevering. Thank you for caring and all the preparation you put into classrooms and lessons,” said Congresswoman Amata. “Someday, a former student will be naming you among their inspirations and reasons for their success.”

“In a small economy like ours, I know that federal investment in education and facilities is always an important part, and I never forget those needs,” she said. “God bless your work and your students, and thank you, Teachers!”

NATIONAL NURSES DAY

“Thank you, especially during this COVID response, to all the nurses serving right now in American Samoa. Thank you to those who live in the islands and serve our people year-round, and thank you to those from thousands of miles away here to help us through this time.

“This year’s theme is ‘rooted in strength,’ and that describes our resilient and professional nurses. They do a great job, and overcome challenges every day. God willing, one day our medical professionals will have newer and better facilities to serve in, as we continue to make health care resources an ongoing priority.

“To each of you, we deeply appreciate your attentive care to any of our health needs. Your work is an important calling, and nurses are dependable for their knowledgeable, efficient, cheerful ways that help us all through tough times.

God bless each of you on National Nurses Week, May 6-12.
