AS DEMS celebrate grand opening of Party headquarters

Pago Pago, American Samoa — (March 2, 2026) The American Samoa Democratic Party proudly celebrated the historic grand opening of its first-ever Party headquarters in Tafuna, marking a significant milestone in the Party’s continued growth and commitment to year-round organizing in the territory.

The event brought together former Party officers, long-time members and delegates, community supporters, and friends and family of the Party for an evening of reflection, gratitude, and renewed purpose.

The program was emceed by Party Board Member Ti'alemasunu Dr. Mikaele Etuale, who guided attendees through an evening highlighting the Party’s history and future vision. Welcome remarks were delivered by Chair Patrick Ti'a Reid, who underscored the significance of the moment and the opportunity ahead. Vice Chair Aioletuna Sunia closed the program’s speaking portion with a call to action, encouraging community members to remain engaged and involved in the Party’s ongoing efforts.

Attendees also heard a special video message from Association of State Democratic Committees (ASDC) President and Nebraska Democratic Party Chair Jane Kleeb, who congratulated the American Samoa Democratic Party on this historic achievement and reaffirmed national support for the territory. A congratulatory message was also shared from Utah State Representative Verona Mauga, a trailblazer whose leadership continues to inspire Pacific Islander representation in public service.

Chair Reid emphasized the broader impact of the new headquarters, stating:

“We're grateful for those that were able to spend the evening with us as we celebrate the opening of our first headquarters in American Samoa that will enable us to organize and invest in our community and small business year-round.”

The newly established headquarters will serve as a hub for community engagement, leadership development, voter education, and monthly service initiatives. Party leaders noted that the space will also support new programs focused on youth engagement, small business collaboration, and local internship opportunities.
