Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — (March 30, 2026) The Port Administration is pleased to report steady progress on the New Port Facilities Construction Project, a key infrastructure initiative aimed at enhancing port operations and improving visitor experience.

Current construction activities are focused on relocating critical underground utilities, including the main sewer line. Dewatering operations are actively underway to safely manage groundwater conditions, with foundation preparation works scheduled to commence in the coming weeks.

To ensure the safety of workers and the public during this phase of construction, the side street located between the Port compound and the rear of the Museum has been temporarily closed. A comprehensive traffic management plan has been implemented to minimize disruption, particularly during cruise ship visits. Clearly marked routes are in place to guide buses and pedestrians, ensuring safe and efficient access to the waterfront area.

Construction is being carried out by Westland Construction, working in close coordination with the Port Administration project team to ensure the project is delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.
