Assistant Chief of Police and Commander of the Criminal Investigation Division (CID), Lavata’i Ta’ase Sagapolutele is thankful to the people of American Samoa for providing assistance to the Police who were searching for a 13-year-old girl who went missing last Monday. She was found over the weekend, on Saturday afternoon.

Lavata’i told Samoa News that ever since the Department of Public Safety reached out to the public through the media for assistance, there has been a lot of support and tips from the public in the search for this young girl.

Amerous Alameda Lafoga, a student at Marist St Francis, who is 5’4, 140 lbs, with wavy dark brown hair and fair skin is now with the police authorities. Lavata’i declined to comment further on the matter indicating the girl is a minor, but confirmed she’s been found and she will return to her family in due time.

Amerous left her home last Monday night between 7 and 8p.m. At the time her mother filed a complaint of missing persons with the police, she indicated that Amerous’s family loves and cares for her and the family is seeking the public’s assistance for any information from anyone who has seen her during the search.

According to the Assistant Police Chief, there have been a lot of calls over the weekend from the public trying to find out if anyone had found the missing girl.

Samoa News understands that the police found the girl in Ili’ili on Saturday afternoon, alive and well. No further details were released as of press time.
