Young man with previous brushes with the law charged with disturbing the peace
Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — On August 13, 2025, a concerned mother called the Leone Police Substation (LPS) to request assistance regarding her son, who was allegedly causing a disturbance in their home.
The suspect was charged with Count 1: Private Peace Disturbance (DV), a class C misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment for up to fifteen days, a fine of $300, or both imprisonment and fine.
The defendant’s bail was set at $500.
Court records indicated that on August 13th, at about 8:36 a.m., a woman (the reporter) called the LPS regarding her son, who allegedly caused a disturbance in their home in Leone. She also informed the authorities that the suspect had left their home and was walking all the way past California Mart in Leone.
Police officers were dispatched to the call, and upon arrival at the scene, they met with the reporter, who briefed them on what had happened.
According to the reporter, her son, Eteuati Fifita, came in the morning with a machete and struck the witness’s oxygen tank and yelled profanities at her (reporter/suspect’s mother) and the suspect’s father. An investigation later revealed that the witness was not near the tank when the suspect hit it.
At the same time, another officer approached an older lady (later identified as the witness) inside the house and interviewed her. The witness claimed that the reason the suspect became angry was because his father had yelled at him for not staying at home and roaming around all night.
The defendant is identified as a 21-year-old citizen of Tonga. The suspect was also involved in previous burglary and theft cases, but was not arrested. He was still at large during the time of the incident.
