According to the court affidavit, on October 4, 2025, at about 12:08 a.m., the reporter called to tell police that her brother (the suspect) had allegedly pointed an axe towards her little sister (victim), and chased her out of their house in Amaluia.
Authorities were dispatched to the scene, and upon arrival, they met up with the reporter, who briefed them. According to the reporter, she lives with her husband in Vatia, and her little sister called her to tell her that her brother (suspect), who was just released from jail three months ago, occupied their old house in Amaluia, and had brought a young couple to stay inside their home while he (suspect) roamed the village every night and day.
The victim also told her that she had already informed their parents, who are off-island, about their brother, and they had asked the suspect to remove the couple from their house.
On the same day, the reporter explained that she and her sister approached their brother and asked him about what he had done, and he told them that “this was his house”. She told the suspect that their parents wanted to remove the drug addicted couple from the house, but the suspect refused and yelled at them, saying that he owns the home.
The reporter said she told the suspect that she was going to call the police, but the suspect chased them out of the house. Due to the suspect’s behavior, the reporter then contacted the authorities and requested assistance. The reporter called the police a second time and reported that the suspect came out with an axe and was chasing her sister (victim).
The officers were able to interview the victim, who provided a verbal statement. According to the victim, the suspect came at her with an axe and waved it at her as if he was trying to throw it at her. She continued that the suspect yelled at her, saying that he was coming after her and threatened to burn their house down.
The victim also mentioned that “since the suspect was released from jail, there is no peace in their family”.
The officers also spoke with the reporter’s husband, who was present during the incident, and he stated that the suspect opened the door and came out with a small axe, and proceeded to chased the victim with the axe in his hand, yelling at the victim that “he was coming for her and he was going to burn the house down”.
He (the husband) ran towards the suspect, restrained him, got the axe, and threw it away. The suspect stopped and went back inside the house.
During apprehension, the responding officer grabbed the suspect’s hand, but he refused and yelled that he didn’t care about the police. The other officer grabbed his other hand, but the suspect continued to resist arrest. The suspect told them that the police didn’t have a search warrant to search his house. The officers tried to cuff the suspect, but he continued to resist arrest by moving away.
The suspect was finally apprehended, placed in the police unit and transported to the LPS for booking.
He was confined at the Tafuna Correctional Facility to await the next available sitting of the District Court.
The investigation later revealed that the suspect also had a prior case where he struck another person in the face with a golf club, which caused a significant injury. His family was concerned that he might repeat this behavior, and they felt unsafe due to his conduct.
The defendant is identified as Andrew Andrew, a 38-year-old U.S national.
