Older sister accused of PPD while allegedly high on drugs
Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — On March 20, 2025, a woman called the Leone Police Station (LPS) that her older sister was causing a disturbance by yelling profanities at her and her parents, while allegedly high on drugs.
The suspect was later arrested and charged with Count 1: Private Peace DIsturbance (DV), a class C misdemeanor punishable for up to fifteen days, a fine of up to $300 but not less than $150, or both.
There was no set bail for the defendant.
According to the court affidavit, on Mar. 20th, at about 1:50 p.m., a woman (reporter) called the LPS and alleged her older sister, Puapuagaimoana Iolana (later identified as the suspect), was being disruptive and yelling profanities at her and her parents.
The officers proceeded to serve the call immediately and upon arrival at the scene, they met with the reporter and her parents where they briefed the officers about what had happened.
The suspect’s mother and sister stated that the suspect had fled the scene and provided a description of what she was wearing.
The sister also explained that it all started when her “drug addicted sister came back to their house and she told her to get out of the house.” She stated that the suspect yelled at her and called her names and when her parents tried to calm the suspect down, the suspect continued to yell profanities in Samoan at her and her parents.
The suspect also told her sister “not to ever see her again at the Aute or Pegi’s house,” and threatened to burn down their kitchen where her father stayed.
According to the mother’s statement, the suspect came home and started making noises and yelling profanities in Samoan at them while her two grandchildren were crying. She and her husband tried to calm the suspect down but she continued yelling at them and accused them of hiding a man named Pegi. She asked the suspect who Pegi was, but she never calmed down, and instead yelled at her younger daughter (reporter) and called her names. The mother stated that the suspect “was good before, but when she goes to her boyfriend ‘Pegi’ she gets out of control.
The officers then patrolled near the scene and they observed a woman matching the description provided. The suspect was passing the other side of the road going to the bus stop. Police informed the suspect of the case she was involved in and she was immediately apprehended and transported to the LPS for further investigation.
Upon arrival at the LPS, the suspect was Mirandized to which she understood and agreed to provide a verbal statement.
According to the suspect, she got mad because her little sister was “cheeky at her”.
The suspect was booked and confined at the Tafuna Correctional Facility to await the next available sitting of the District Court.
Further investigation by police revealed that the suspect came home high on drugs and was looking for her boyfriend, Pegi. When her little sister told her to get out of the house she got out of control and caused a disturbance while her two children were crying in fear.
The defendant is identified as a 27-year-old citizen of Samoa.
