No bail for bar-b-cue defendant
Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — On October 10, 2025, a concerned neighbor contacted the Fagatogo Police Station and reported an alleged disturbance.
A suspect was later apprehended and charged with Count 1: Public Peace Disturbance, a class B misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment for up to six months, a fine of $600, or both imprisonment and fine.
The defendant was held without bail.
According to the court affidavit, on Oct. 10th, at approximately 12:50 a.m., FPS received a call from a person (reporter) reporting that Felise Iese, a tenant (the suspect) was alegedly shouting and screaming in a public place.
Police officers responded to the call and, upon arrival at the scene, they observed the reporter waiting at the side of the road. They approached the reporter, who explained that the disturbance started when the suspect and another man got into an argument while they were barbecuing.
During the verbal altercation, the man assaulted the suspect. The reporter also noted that the family members of the two men were able to resolve their differences. However, a few hours later, the suspect continued to disturb the peace by shouting profanities.
The commotion alerted neighbors, including the reporter. The reporter further reported that the suspect was intoxicated during the incident.
Another witness was also interviewed, and she explained that her boyfriend and the suspect had gotten into an argument earlier. She mentioned that the argument was settled between them, but the suspect came back later for her boyfriend, only to find that he had already left. The suspect then started to cause a disturbance by yelling out profanities.
The suspect was apprehended and transported to FPS for further investigation.
Iese was later booked and confined at the Tafuna Correctional Facility, to await the next available sitting of the District Court.
The defendant was later identified as a 28-year-old citizen of Samoa.
