Local mechanics shop latest in rash of break-ins in Lions Park area

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — The Department of Public Safety is conducting an investigation into a burglary that occurred at a mechanics shop situated in Lions Park. During this incident, a government vehicle belonging to the Department of Search and Rescue was allegedly removed.

The vehicle in question is a black F150 with the license plate SAR1. This vehicle is utilized by the Director of the department and had been submitted to the shop for routine maintenance prior to its theft.

This information was corroborated by police officers who are restricted from discussing the case with the media. According to a Police officer within the department, the incident reportedly occurred in the early days of this month. In addition to the theft of a government-owned vehicle, a significant number of tools and equipment valued at thousands of dollars were also reported missing from a local workshop. 

The Police investigation is ongoing to seek to uncover the precise circumstances surrounding the break-in, including the time and method of entry, as well as to identify any potential suspects linked to this criminal act. 

This incident is part of a trend, as it represents one of several break-ins that have recently plagued the Industrial Park business area, raising concerns among local business owners about their safety and security measures.
