LBJ hospital records loss of over $1 Mil
Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — The LBJ hospital recorded a loss of $1.01 million as of 30 March, 2022. This was outlined in the Statement of Revenue, expenses and charges in net assets with actuals versus budget for Fiscal Year 2022.
The operating expenses included salaries, wages, and benefits, whereas the budget allocation was $2.37 million and the actuals are $2.33 million for the pharmaceuticals, medical and general supplies budget of $1.08 million yet $2.44 million was spent.
For the minor equipment a total of $74,542 was allocated yet $90,386 was overspent by $15,000.
Professional services budget was $395,517 and $528,065 funding was used and overspent by $132,548.
The report further also cited the significant overspending in the hospital’s utilities. A total of $159,417 was the budget for the period under review yet $498,986 was spent. A total of $339,569 was the overspending for the utilities.
The hospital quarterly report also highlighted the increase of its total liabilities and unrestricted net assets, valued at $73.8 million.
The cash equivalents amounted to $15.2 million while patients receivables was $9.83 million; other receivables $2.03 million, while advance for pharmaceuticals $340,589.23, with prepaid expenses of $489,173.94 and inventories amounted to $6.03 million tala.
The net depreciation for Capital Assets $20 million and $19.8 million was the value of construction underway.
Accounts payable was $5.49 million with accrued wages and related taxes of $2.53 million with current portion of compensated absences deferred revenue Medicare was $1.74 million.
The report also confirmed the hospital’s subsidy from the Government amounted to $916,667 that has been paid.
