Holiday gifting spreads love & cheer to Hope House and others

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Governor Lemanu P.S. Mauga and First Lady Ella Mauga, accompanied by several cabinet members and staff on Monday, visited local institutions to spread love and happiness this festive season. Their visits included the annual gift giving presentation at the local facilities, including the Hope House at Fatuoaiga, followed by the Tafuna Correctional Facility and the Juvenile Detention Center.

At their first stop, Governor Lemanu and the First Lady Ella extended their heartfelt wishes to each and every individual at the Hope House. Governor Lemanu also took a moment to acknowledge the residents’ vital role in the community, expressing his sincere appreciation for their continued contributions.

The governor thanked the fathers and mothers at Hope House, stating, “It’s a privilege to visit Hope House each year and give gifts as a token of appreciation for our cherished ones here. Thank you for your wisdom and service to American Samoa, which benefits our future generations.”

He also thanked the management and staff of Hope House for their care of the residents, saying, “Caring for the elderly is important work, and I commend everyone here for their service. Thank you so much for your commitment and hard work.” In conclusion Governor Lemanu wished the Hope House residents a Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year.

The opening prayer was delivered by the acting Chaplain of the Governor’s Office Iremia Iremia Jr., followed by music provided by the Department of Human and Social Services (DHSS) Choir.

House Representative Larry Sanitoa, Chairman of the Board for Hope House, spoke on behalf of the organization to thank Governor Lemanu, Lt. Governor La’apui, and their administration for consistently responding to their requests for essential support and for the thoughtful gifts provided each year. In return, they presented gifts to the Governor, First Lady, and Lt. Governor as a gesture of appreciation.

The gift-giving wrapped up at the Territorial Correctional Facility (TCF) and the Juvenile Detention Center.
