Grandmother reports on her allegedly drunk and disorderly grandson
Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — On July 1, 2025, Tafuna Police Substation (TPS) received a call transferred from the headquarters in Fagatogo regarding a distressed grandmother seeking assistance regarding her grandson who was allegedly causing a disturbance at their home.
The suspect fled the scene but was later apprehended and charged with Count 1: Private Peace Disturbance (DV) a class C misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment for up to fifteen days, a fine of $300, or both.
The defendant’s bail was set at $300.
Court records state that on July 1st, Fagatogo Police Station (FPS) contacted the TPS and relayed information regarding a disturbance call from Kokoland. Police officers answered the call and confirmed it to be a disturbance at the family residence in Kokoland.
At the scene, the officers met with the reporter/ victim who stated that her grandson, Agape Fa’amuina (later identified as the suspect) had allegedly caused a disturbance at their home while intoxicated.
Officers conducted a search of the surrounding area in an effort to locate the suspect but the suspect had fled the scene and was nowhere to be seen.
The victim explained that around 8:00 p.m., the suspect came home highly intoxicated and asked her for money to buy cigarettes, but she refused. Agape became angry and began yelling profanities in Samoan. She in turn yelled back at Agape and told him to leave the house and to stop being disrespectful.
However, he threatened her and told her that he would burn their house down. Agape then walked outside the house and threw rocks at their house and that’s when she contacted the police station for assistance.
The victim also stated that she feared for her life in this situation and expressed that it hurts her deeply because she lives with her grandchildren; but, she does not want Agape to be present in their residence for their safety.
The authorities advised the victim to contact the police again should the suspect return to their residence.
At about 9:37 p.m., authorities received a phone call from the victim who informed the officers that Agape had returned and continued to threaten to burn their house down.
Police officers responded to the call.
At approximately 9:41 p.m., the officers arrived at the scene and made contact with Agape who was observed lying on the concrete floor and appeared to be heavily intoxicated.
Upon apprehension, the officers detected a strong odor of alcohol odor on the suspect’s breath and body.
The suspect was transported to the TPS where he was booked and confined at the Tafuna Correctional Facility awaiting the next available sitting of the District Court.
