Holiday Music Festival performance

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — American Samoa’s annual holiday music festival opened this past Sunday, Dec. 4 at the Veterans Memorial in Tafuna.

The American Samoa Council on Arts, Culture and Humanities annual event will continue throughout the week with added attractions this year. In a press released from the Governor’s Office it was noted that in addition to the musical performances, there will be a Farmer’s Market, Bazaar, and Kid’s Corner for the public to enjoy.

“The Holiday Music Festival is a time-honored tradition that brings our family, churches, government, and community together to celebrate the joy and warmth of the holiday season,” Gov. Lemanu P.S. Mauga said as he opened the event.

“Christmas is a season that holds deep spiritual meaning for most of us, it marks the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, a symbol of love, compassion, and hope. In the midst of the holiday busyness, let us not forget the core message of Christmas and its three gifts - the gift of life, the gift of salvation, and the ultimate gift of sacrificial love of Jesus dying on the cross for us.” Governor Lemanu concluded by remembering our Toa o Samoa who will be away from their families this holiday season.

Mrs. Beauty Ale, wife of Speaker of the House Savali Ale, participated in the lighting of the Christmas tree after which the musical performances commenced by the following groups:

• CCCAS Sailele Youth

• CCCAS Masausi Youth: Tupulaga o le Taulaga Ola

• Autalavou Metotisi Tafuna: Ave o le Fetuao

• CCCAS Amouli Youth

• Alleluia Ministries International

• Autalavou Metotisi: O A’u Nei o le Vine Moni

• CCCAS Masefau

The Holiday Music Festival is free and open to the public, offering a wonderful opportunity for everyone to come together and enjoy the magic of the season.
