After two years of waiting, the LBJ Medical Center took delivery of a complete Blood Pressure monitor for the Physical Therapy Clinic.

The new addition to the hospital’s equipment is possible through the hard work and dedication of Mrs. Helga Lefiti, Mrs. Gretchen Makaiwi, and the volunteer members of the Women’s Hospital Auxiliary who operate a snack bar on hospital grounds, from which all proceeds go towards buying much needed equipment for the territory’s only hospital.

“The monitor took nearly two years to get due to a manufacturer’s delay, but Mrs. Helga Leifiti was persistent in her follow-up of the order since payment was made in June 2013,” explained Dr. Sandra Scanlan of LBJ’s Rehabilitation Clinic.

The monitor arrived a year later, and the roll stand took another eight months. The entire donation is now complete as of March 2015.

“The BP monitor is essential in assuring safe responses to exercises and therapy intervention at the LBJ TMC Rehabilitation Clinic,” Dr. Sandra Scanlan wrote in an email to Samoa News yesterday.

“We wish to extend our ‘Fa'afetai Tele Lava’ to the Women's Auxiliary for once again providing assistance to our community with this donation. Thank you so much!”
