Kanana Fou High School’s commencement ceremony, which was held last Friday morning at the “Ua Taunu’u” chapel in Kanana Fou, witnessed 70 seniors bidding farewell to the Home of the Stallions. Their graduation theme was — “Test everything but hold on to the good”.

The ceremony was packed with more than two hundred families and friends in attendance, including the Department of Education Director Dr. Vaitinasa Salu Hunkin-Finau and the Chairman of the CCCAS Board of Education, Rev. Iakopo Ioane.

Hunkin-Finau delivered commencement remarks, noting the KFHS’s Class of 2014 theme reminded her “of a testimony from a prophet who lived in the continent of America, in the old testament, a prophet name Alma, who had numerous children that were very undisciplined and hard headed.”

She continued, “Alma said something to them that relates to your theme this morning, saying, teach unto them not to give up on doing good works, and always be humble and courteous, because thou will find peace and harmony in thy hearts and soul.”

The DOE director added, “Learn in your youth, to keep the commandments of our Heavenly Father.”

Following her remarks, Valedictorian, Venezza Unless Alosio delivered her speech, giving special thanks to the staff of her high school.

“Hats off to the staff of Kanana Fou High School. Thank you for your patience and for being there when we needed you, and for encouraging us to always aim for success. Because without you there to educate us, we wouldn’t be here to complete this chapter in life.”
