Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — The US Department of Transportation has granted the cabotage exemption request by the Samoa government-owned Polynesian Limited, dba, Samoa Airways to continue operating Manu’a flights up to early next year.

Samoa Airways earlier this year was granted an exemption by the US Department of Transportation to operate Manu’a flights for 180 days, while deferring the remainder of its 12-month exemption request.  Last month, the airline sought exemption through Feb. 11, 2020.

In a decision issued last Friday, the USDOT granted the exemption to allow Samoa Airways to continue operating Manu’a flights to Feb. 7, 2020.  The exemption has been granted due to the lack of a US carrier to operate the territory’s domestic route.
