Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — The Tafuna High School Alumni Association has organized this morning starting around 6a.m. in front of McDonald’s restaurant in Tafuna, the “Alumni Peaceful Protest for our Lower Campus”.

And it’s to “send a message to our Governor and those in charge that the biggest high school on island, HUMBLY, and, with RESPECT, asks the Governor to RETHINK their decision” to use the lower campus to house the newly proposed Education Department building and E-Rate office.

“We think the DOE Main Building will be perfect at LION’S PARK next to TAOA,” according to the ALUMNI social media messages that invites all who wish to participate: ALUMNI, PARENTS, STUDENTS, and STAFF as well as FRIENDS of Tafuna High School.

“This is a PEACEFUL PROTEST to LET OUR VOICES BE HEARD! All done with RESPECT. O le TOA lava e pulea lona loto,” the message says.

Samoa News understands that members of the Parents and Teachers Association are also planning to attend the peaceful protest.

(It should also be pointed out that the Lion’s Park area is located more or less across the street from the Nuuuli Vocational High School. The area the alumni are indicating for the new ASDOE building is across from the Pala Lagoon park area, and noted as the old Tafuna Housing area.)
