Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — The American Samoa Democratic Party (ASDP), through its Tautua Ma Le Alofa community service initiative, has made a donation to support relief efforts led by the CNMI Democratic Party following the devastating impacts of Typhoon Sinlaku on the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.

As fellow Pacific Islanders and residents of a remote U.S. Territory, the people of American Samoa understand all too well the challenges that natural disasters pose to our communities.

From destructive storms to the growing impacts of climate change, island communities often find themselves on the front lines of crises while waiting for assistance from thousands of miles away.

"Our hearts are with the people of the Northern Mariana Islands during this difficult time," said ASDP Chairman Ti'a Reid. "Pacific communities understand that when one island suffers, we all feel the impact. We wanted to do our small part to support our fellow Dem volunteers working tirelessly to help their neighbors."

The Party noted that disasters across the United States have highlighted growing concerns about the federal government's ability to respond quickly and effectively to emergencies. At a time when disaster relief has become increasingly politicized and communities across the nation face uncertainty in receiving assistance, Pacific Islanders continue to demonstrate the importance of community-driven action and mutual aid.

The American Samoa Democratic Party extends its gratitude to the CNMI Democratic Party, emergency responders, public servants, nonprofit organizations, faith communities, and countless volunteers who continue to serve those affected by Typhoon Sinlaku.
