Young man arrested for just wanting to have fun with his girlfriend
Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — On February 12, 2025, a high school staff member contacted the Tafuna Police Substation (TPS) regarding an 18-year-old who allegedly went on campus at one of the high schools while intoxicated.
The suspect was later apprehended and charged with Count 1: Underage Consumption of Alcoholic Beverages, a class B misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment for up to six months, a fine of $500, or both.
The defendant’s bail was set at $500.
According to the court affidavit, on Feb. 12th, at about 2:10 p.m., TPS received a call from one of the high schools regarding a young man who entered the school campus under the influence of alcohol.
Police officers proceeded to the said matter and met up with one of the school staff members who briefed them regarding the call. She stated that the suspect entered the campus and started to cause a disturbance while classes were in session.
She approached him and asked him where he was going whereas the suspect replied that he had come to see his girlfriend. She then walked the suspect to the school office and contacted the TPS for assistance.
The school staff member also reported that when she approached the suspect, she detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from his breath.
After the interview with the school representative, the suspect was apprehended and placed inside the police unit and transported to the station for further investigation.
Upon arrival at the station, the suspect stated that he drank 4 cans of alcohol before he went to the school. He also mentioned that he just wanted to have fun with his girlfriend.
The suspect was later booked and confined at the Tafuna Correctional Facility to await the next available sitting of the District Court.
The defendant is identified as an 18-year-old U.S national.
