Weather conditions continue to disrupt
Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Swire Shipping in a press release has “advised that the Pago Pago and Apia ports remain closed at this time due to severe weather.
“We do not have any indication on the port reopening but will update you as soon as we can.
“ The port rotation (Apia-Pago Pago or Pago Pago-Apia) for the Poly 997 has yet to be determined. “Please note that the port rotation may be subject to change with short notice.
SCIENCE FAIR 2025 POSTPONED
The Annual Science Fair for 2025 has been postponed until further notice, according to a notice from the Department of Education (DOE). The notice cites “persisting bad weather conditions”.
The fair was originally scheduled for February 24- 28th. It’s an annual event in which both Elementary and Secondary science students create science projects/ experiments to compete among their peers for top awards.
HAWAIIAN AIR CANCELLED FLIGHT THAT RETURNED TO HNL
Hawaiian Airlines has announced that the flight from Honolulu on Thursday, Feb. 20, that was unable to make land at Pago Pago International Airport due to bad weather conditions has been cancelled and passengers are advised to rebook on Monday and Tuesday flights this week.
The HAL aircraft made two unsuccessful attempts to land at the Pago Pago International Airport before it returned to Honolulu, arriving back safely in Hawaii just after 3am.
It’s not known if priority accommodation for passengers rebooking has been given to passengers of the Feb. 20th flight.
