Ta'afano Joseph Tavale passes away

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Marist St. Francis Elementary School announced last Thursday morning the passing of Ta'afano Joseph Tavale, "a valued member of the Eastern Vicariate Catholic School Board."

 Ta'afano was co-chair of the Board and was a very active member. "A truly outspoken and dedicated individual of the Catholic faith," is how the school describes Ta'afano. "A patron of practical solutions who threw himself into concrete tasks with energy and determination. Ta'afano played a pivotal role ensuring the academic well being of our school. He has shared his talents and love of music to the children by volunteering his time to teach music classes at the school. He will be dearly missed."

In addition to his role on the Eastern Vicariate Catholic School Board, Ta'afano was also the chairman of the board for Hope House at Fatuoaiga.

He was also a board member of the Chamber of Commerce as well as chairman of the Zoning Board. Ta'afano is the CEO of Samoa Prosthetics Inc.

He is survived by his wife Luana, their children, and grandchildren.
