Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — The Department of Legal Affairs’ Travel Division will launch on Oct. 15th a new Certificate of Identity (CI), a travel document used by US nationals and others who don’t have a US passport.

In a brief statement early this week, Attorney General Talauega Eleasalo V. Ale said the “new CI format will replace an outdated format that has been in place since 1969.” He explained that the new CI will have enhanced security features, making it more secure and less prone to unauthorized alterations.

The new CI will be valid for one year — at a cost of $100 — rather than the current one which is valid for 6-months and costs $50.
